Method
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
- Lightly score the hot dogs diagonally with a small knife to help them crisp while cooking.
- Arrange the hot dogs in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry for 5 minutes until the hot dogs are lightly blistered and heated through.
- Brush the inside of each bun lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder.
- Place the buns into the air fryer for 1 to 2 minutes until warm and lightly toasted.
- Add the hot dogs to the toasted buns.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, diced red onion, and mustard.
- Serve immediately while hot.
- Cook hot dogs to an internal temperature of 165°F for food safety.
Notes
Scoring the hot dogs helps create crispy edges and prevents splitting during air frying. Try setting up a topping bar for parties so everyone can customize their own hot dog.
