Method
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and set aside.
- In a large bowl beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add sugar, egg, and vanilla flavoring. Mix until creamy and fully combined.
- Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, sealing any seams.
- Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough layer.
- Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the base layer using a spatula.
- Unroll the second can of dough and carefully place it over the filling, pressing gently to cover.
- Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar evenly over the surface.
- Bake for 28 to 32 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Allow to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing into bars and serving.
Notes
For cleaner slices, chill the bars for 1 hour before cutting and use a sharp knife wiped clean between cuts.
